BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Members of the Crow Nation will head to the polls Saturday to determine who will be the tribe's next vice chairman.

Vying for the post are Darrin Old Coyote and Calvin "Coolidge" Jefferson Jr. The men received the most votes in a four-way primary election held April 18. Old Coyote received 1,170 votes to Jefferson's 1,055.

The election came about after former Vice Chairman Cedric Black Eagle was elected chairman in April to replace Carl Venne, who died in February.

Old Coyote, 36, lives in Garryowen and recently began his second term as vice secretary of the Crow Tribe. The 60-year-old Jefferson lives near Hardin and is a representative for the Indian Health Service.
