Our day at the water park was fun. “Mandatory fun,” everyone kept saying. I didn’t think I would have fun either. But I did. I can still feel it in my arms.
It was hot and muggy that day, but rain was promised for later.
I sat around until lunch was served. Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, fruit salad and pork beans were on the menu.
After, when my food was settled, I went to the go-cart arena and raced Victoria, Amanda, Nancy, Princella and Neda. I came in third because Victoria wouldn’t let me pass and I broke my nail.
Then Victoria, Nancy and I went to the batting cages. At first I didn’t want to put on the stupid helmet so I just watched Victoria for a while. I had only swung a bat once in my life and that was in P.E. class about three years ago in high school.
I decided to give it a try so I put the stupid helmet on and grabbed a bat and swung away in the slow lane. It was pretty easy, and I could hit the ball almost every time.
Victoria, on the other hand, was hit in the leg by a ball in the fast lane. She now has a large sickle shaped bruise.
I went into the fast lane after she limped off.
It was so fun. The balls came so fast and I was surprised that I could hit nearly every one of them.
That is what I did all day. Swing away in the fast lane.
I did watch paintball and I played volleyball for a while but I’m not sore from that. I’m sore from baseball.
I woke up at three o’clock this morning to turn over and I wanted to cry because my arm, stomach and chest muscles were screaming pain.
My hands have the worst pain because I was gripping the bat so hard and they haven’t stopped shaking.
I have a blister on my thumb that I think might be infected but I think if I had the chance, I would go back and have another swing at it.
That was my day at the water park. I didn’t play in the water or even go near it, but I think I found a new pastime activity in the batting cage.
