At the lake and ballpark

Racing to the van on Saturday for the picnic at the lake near Yankton, S.D. was the highlight of the weekend. My skin took on a new rosey color after I forgot to apply sunscreen on shore.

Who wants a ride on the boat? I never turn down adventure. Suddenly, I realized I needed to swim out to the boat in the frigid water to grasp my hunger for the ride.

Crawling on board a boat in water is not an easy task when your swimming skills are rusty. Soon, I was fascinated with the water and tubbing and found myself in the water attempting to climb on the inner tube for a 360 around the lake. Amazing fun took over my day.

Sunday, I splashed in the fountain at center field at Principal Park for the Iowa Cubs and New Orleans Zephyrs game. Then I saw the old-fashioned scoreboard with Local Boys and Out of Towners painted on the board.

I found my curiousity took over and I was asking how much education does it take to keep score. The bold yellow and white numbers slide into the backside of the scoreboard with numbers listed to keep track of the innings and errors and other statistics written for the scorekeeper who works as an accountant in Des Moines.

This man likes hanging out at the ball park.
