A German lady comes to America to marry a man she has never met. She wants a family and home. The world does not welcome people who are from Germany. This ties in somewhat to how people are treated even in today's world. The young woman has to learn English. She tries several times to get the proper papers to get married. Shot down everytime. Her fiance receives little help from the community. This is a lovely story based on the novel A Tombstone Made of Wheat. The movie does not follow the plot of the book which could have made the ending more exciting. The Upper Sioux Community in Granite Falls, Minn.has a Native American playing a small part in the movie his name is Alvin. It is a remarkable love story about the merging of two cultures through thick and thin. People from all over the Southwestern Corner of Minnesota helped with this independant film that started showing this past fall. It was wonderful to watch it on the big screen. The Lower Sioux Community in Morton, Minn.also had a member in the movie. It nice to see people from the Native Communities hitting the big screen. I wish that the parts they played would have contained more culture. It is a heart throbbing, sit in the seat, and tear jerking movie.
