Good Afternoon! i'm one of the students who is in Christie Cooke English 330 class at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, KS. My name is Carla and i'm a proud Meskwaki/Potawatomi older student. It's been hard for me to come back to school after so many years and keep up with these younger students but i'm keeping up and i'm enjoying it. I've been learning so much about the way this world as changed in just a few years. I was a student in 2003-05 here and had to take off for abit to take care of myself and just returned this spring and just that little while i was gone so many new things came about. This blogging is one of them. You know when you are young and people tell you to go onto school after high school well i was one of them that said "oh i'll wait for awhile" well i'm kind of glad now that i did. If i didn't i wouldn't have been able to experience going to school at a All Native University and meeting new people from all over. But i'm ok with getting my education later in life now i have time to do this. I have 2 sons, several grandkids and a daughter-in-law who mean the world to me and to be able to still help them out when i can means the world to me. Financial wise i mean. I have the time to stay on campus and have the hands on experience of actually enjoying this time. My sons are grown and the grandkids are taken care of so i have i guess, "me" time. Don't get me wrong i'm still involved with my loved ones but they know if they need me they know where i'm at. This is a learning experience that i'm going to enjoy being involved with, so who knows how this is going to end up. One day maybe i'll become a writer. A person can dream right?
