Thousands gather to welcome canoes on largest-ever Tribal Journey

White Earth Tribal Council approves seat belt law

The law allows White Earth Police officers to stop and cite White Earth residents who are not wearing seat belts.

The law does not apply to nonresidents of the White Earth Indian Reservation.

Cherokees plan new health centers at hospital site

The 45 acres of weeds, rocks, tangled brush and post oaks adjacent to the W.W. Hastings Indian Hospital soon might be home to a beacon in Indian health care.

Nonprofit seeks donations to send aid to reservation

Chief George B. Dodge, founder and president of First Nations Intertribal Association, has tons of donated items sitting on his lawn.

He needs help getting the goods to people who desperately need them in South Dakota.

Trooper used reasonable force in smoke shop raid

A jury yesterday ruled in favor of state Trooper Kenneth Jones, finding he used reasonable force when he applied a hold to a Narragansett Indian's ankle during a state police raid on a tribal smoke shop five years ago.
