Driving through three states
By Charles Pulliam
Being from Alaska, I took advantage of how the highway is set up on a June 10 road trip to Des Moines, Iowa.
I’ve never been to any mid-west states until I arrived last week. On the drive Sunday, we went through a section of highway where South Dakota, Nebraska and Iowa intersect.
The intersection allowed me to be in three states in one.
In my life-long quest to visit all the states in the U.S., I checked Nebraska off my list.
I flew into Sioux City, Iowa, so I’ve been there twice now, making it old news.
I still have quite a few states to go, but it was a great way to knock off a couple state visits in one.
The baseball game we went to see was a great experience. My baseball experience was limited to high school action and Alaska Baseball League games.
The New Orleans Zephyrs beat the Iowa Cubs in a Triple-A game. I covered the game for the Zephyrs and was in the press box.
After the game, I got to go down to the clubhouse and chat with several players, including Sandy Alomar Jr. Alomar is a 40-year-old catcher who is a six time MLB all-star.
