TULSA, Okla. — Continued construction of a tribal casino in Broken Arrow, Okla., has come to hault due to an injunction issued by U.S. District Court Judge Greggory Frizzell on May 18.
The injunction was granted against the Kialegee Tribal Town, a federally recognized tribe based in Wetumka, Okla., after a three-day court hearing held in Tulsa, Okla.
Frizzell issued the injunction because evidence by the state cites the property is not under the jurisdiction of the tribe nor are the owners of the property members of the tribe.

BIXBY, Okla.---- Johnny Depp will play Tonto in Disney's version of "The Lone Ranger" due out in 2013. Well, that's old news. The news that is buzzing around the internet is pictures of him dressed up as the sidekick and Armie Hammer is listed to be playing the Lone Ranger. Hammer's recent roles include playing the Winklevoss twins in "Social Network" and Clyde Tolson in Clint Eastwood's drama “J. Edgar”. Based on previous films I have seen these two in, albeit seperately, I do believe that this movie may actually work.

Happy New Year. I know I am a little late but it seems like no one says it any more after the first of January.
It was during this new part of the year that I heard something that reminded me of things we often don’t say or hear enough outside of our communities, and that is support.

Today, Nov. 16, 2011, the state of Oklahoma celebrates its 104 birthday.
For those that don’t know much about the history of this state, allow me to enlighten you. A long time ago, during removal, many tribes across the country were removed to what was then called “Indian Territory.” Today, there are over 30 tribes that have their headquarters located in the state.

Very recently, I told my eldest brother that I am a democrat. We hadn’t talked in quite some time, so you can imagine the awkwardness when he opened the conversation with, “So who’s gonna vote for Obama?”
I responded simply, “I am.”
Well, it got me thinking about my right to vote. I wasn’t always political or interested in these matters until I was graduating this past spring semester. Why shouldn’t I exercise my right to vote more frequently and deliberately? It also got me thinking about my ability to vote in all my tribal elections.

Happy Columbus Day! I see on Facebook that people are against the celebration of Columbus Day. Before we begin, I must tell you that according to Strengthquest, one of my strengths is positivity. I like looking at the glass as half full.
Part III: “Am I saying this right?”

Languages can be fun to learn. When you are around people from other cultures, it’s always good to learn bits and pieces of their language. A couple of months ago, I posted on my Hmong friend’s wall on Facebook in the Creek language. Basically, I just said “Happy Birthday.” He responded, “Thank you my friend,” in Hmong. Now we both meant what we said but it was interesting seeing it in two different languages. I like when things like that happen.
